Vegetable Potato Recipes

The potato is one of the most used staples in the world. The pre-Columbian farmers discovered and raised potatoes about 7000 years ago. So it can be maintained that the potatoes came to us from the territory, which is occupied now by the United States of America. Nowadays in this country each citizen eat one potato per day, what makes approximately 135 potato pounds per year, and it is the second most consumed food after the milk. But in Europe the people eat twice as many potatoes as the people in the USA per year. The potato is also the the first food, which was grown in space, and it occurred in the year 1995. So the potatoes can be placed in the same row with the rice, corn and wheat according to the significance.

Pancakes with Potatoes and Mushrooms


300 gr. of fresh mushrooms;
500 gr. of potatoes;
3-4 tablespoons of butter or margarine;
2-3 tablespoons of dried breadcrumbs;
2 eggs;


Peel the potatoes. Grate them. Mix them with the dried breadcrumbs. Add salt and fry the pancakes. After the preparation add sour cream or honey or sauce them.

The Vegetable Cream Soup


1-2 potatoes;
1-2 carrots;
0,5 glass of milk;
1 boiled egg;
0,5 tea-spoon of butter;


Boil the potatoes on the steam. Boil the carrots in the small amount of water. Rub the potatoes and carrots through the botler. Add water from the carrots and milk. Whisk the mixture and add salt. Grind the egg yolk with the butter and put it into the cream soap before you are going to eat it.
