Ham and Potato Hash Recipe
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, finelycut
1/2 green bell pepper, finely cut
2 medium potatoes, peeled
1 cup finely diced cooked ham
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried crumbled thyme
Preparation:
First cut the potatoes in two. Then simmer potatoes in a saucepan about 10 minutes. Next rinse them in cold water. Drain the
saucepan of all water. Cut potatoes to 1/2 –inch pieces. Then melt butter in a cast iron frying pan over medium heat. Add
onion and cook it approximately 4 minutes. Add cut bell pepper and cook 2 minutes more. Then add all the ingridients and mix
everything well. Cook the dish until it gets well browned. It will take you approximately 10 minutes. Do not forget to stir
the hash at times.
Ham and Potato Soup
Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
1/3 cup diced celery
1/3 cup finely cut onion
3/4 cup diced cooked ham
3 1/4 cups water
2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon ground white or black pepper, or to taste
5 tablespoons butter
5 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
Preparation:
Place the potatoes, onion, celery, ham in a pot. Pour the water on the ingredients. Bring to boil. Then cook over medium
heat approximately 10-15 minutes. Potatoes have to be tender. Next, add the chicken bouillon, salt and pepper.
Melt butter over low to medium heat in another pan. Very slowly pour in milk. Stir the milk frequently over medium-low heat
for 4-5 minutes. Stir the butter-milk mixture into the pot and cook the soup until it heats through. You can serve the soup
right away.
