Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Ingredients:
2 cups milk
4 russet potatoes, cut into 1/4 inch slices
salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups crushed Cheddar cheese
1 onion, cut into rings
Preparation:
First heat the oven to 200 degrees C. Butter a 1 quart casserole pan. Place 0,5 of the potatoes into the bottom of the
casserole pan. Cover potatoes with onion and then add the remaining potatoes. Flavour potatoes with salt and pepper to your
taste. Next melt butter over low- medium heat in a mid-size pot. Stir in the flour and salt. Continue to stir the mixture
for about 1 minute. Mix in milk. The mixture has to become thickened. Thereafter mix in cheese and stir until the cheese has
melted. It will take you approximately 30-60 seconds. Pour the cheese mixture over the potatoes and then cover the dish with
aluminum foil.
Bake the dish in oven for about 1,5 hours.
Potatoes Au Gratin

Ingredients:
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup softened butter
1 1/2 pounds Idaho potatoes, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch-thick slices
1/2 cup grated Gruyere
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. You will need 1 table spoon of the softened butter to butter a 1,5 quart baking pan. Place a
layer of potatoes in the baking pan and strew grated cheese over them. Continue the procedure with arranging layers. You
should end with the layer of potatoes. In a separate bowl mix the cream, salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the
potatoes. Strew the remaining butter over the top of potatoes and scatter with paprika. Bake the dish for 1 to 1,5 hours. If
the potatoes are golden brown on the top, the dish is ready. You can serve it in 5 minutes.
